Indoor plumbing has changed the way that we live by giving us access to fresh water and sewage lines connected to our very own homes. Although cities routinely treat their water, water treatment plants are ineffective at removing 100% of contaminates found in drinking water. Water quality testing kits are available to help homeowners determine what exactly is in their water.
How Clean is Your Water?
Nearly 3.1% of global deaths are due to unsafe or inadequate water, sanitation, and hygiene. There are over 2.5 billion people on Earth who live without improved sanitation, 70% of which live in Asia. Back in the U.S. there are only 28% of communities with healthy streams. Since 2 million tons of sewage and industrial/agricultural waste is dumped into the world’s water supply, water quality analysis is a serious science. We were meant to drink clean water, no one should have to get sick from water.
Water Conductivity Monitors
One of the easiest ways to measure the purity of water is with water conductivity monitors. Conductivity is a measurement of water’s ability to pass an electrical current. The conductivity of water is affected by the percentage of inorganic dissolved solids, some of which can be toxic ions. Since the temperature of the water can also affect its conductivity, the water must be tested at 25 degrees Celsius, or 77 degrees Fahrenheit. By installing a water conductivity water, you can determine the amount of contaminants in your water and take steps to make it safer for your household. Pure water is not only better for drinking and bathing, but those appliances that use water such as washing machines and dish washers can run more efficiently and may even have a longer service life when using pure water. Water is already available in our homes; lets do what we can to make it safer, cleaner, and better tasting for everyone.
